The new media are of interest to the global spy community because they are readily available electronically in a database format and therefore can be quickly extracted and transformed by national governments. Of particular interest to the spy community like Facebook and Twitter, two sites where people freely divulge personal information, which can then be analyzed and archived to automatically create dossiers on both interested people and ordinary citizens. New media also serve as an important tool for institutions and nations to promote their interests and values, the content of such promotion can vary according to different goals. Some communities see this as a "peaceful evolution" approach that could destroy their own country's value system and ultimately jeopardize national security. New Media should develop a system where it was more safe and all the date base was hidden.

    I agree with you. There is not enough regulation on privacy. Big companies are compiling data on everyone they can get their hands on. Its being sold and archived. Our rights online should mirror our rights as citizens. We should not have to pay to enter a site with our privacy. Good Post
